We will weed, plant, mulch, trim, re-establish a compost area, paint park benches, and pick up trash.  We will also have fun while we work.  Entertainment will be provided which includes music, street theater, and singing. All you need to do is to show up, bring some work gloves and garden tools (and the Kids too!), and help to maintain Vernon Park, a green oasis in an urban landscape.
 
The Work Party is sponsored locally by Neighborhood Interfaith Movement, a non-sectarian coalition of 58 religious and faith institutions in NW Philadelphia, and Friends of Vernon Park, a volunteer group that helps to maintain Vernon Park.

Weatherization Workshops for Low-Income Families - Noon to 2pm in the Fairhill Neighborhood, Philadelphia

Workshops, led by volunteers trained by the Energy Coordinating Agency will be scheduled with the help of two neighborhood energy centers for the days before, during and after 10-10-10.  Workshops will provide materials for and train families in window caulking, water heater insulating, plastic interior window installation and other easy ways to lower energy consumption and save money.
