350 parts per million is what many scientists, climate experts and progressive national governments are now saying is the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. Currently we are at 392 and rising. Not good. But together we can stand as a unified global movement to make a change and get back to 350. On October 24th, 2009 people all around the world came together for “the most widespread day of political action in the planet’s history”. Over 5,200 events in 181 countries called for a clear solution to the climate crisis: reducing the level of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere below 350 parts per million. In Philadelphia we gathered on Independence Mall to send a powerful message: the world needs the climate solutions that science and justice demand. The more people we have involved with 350philly! and 350.org, the larger and stronger our message will be. Together, we can show our world and its decision makers just how big, beautiful, and unified our movement really is. ![]() |
